Cerebral small vessel disease (SVD), encompasses a collection of pathologies that affect the smallest blood vessels in the brain. It is one of the most common acquired vascular disorders that occurs with aging of the brain. SVD plays a role in about a fifth of all strokes and cerebral hemorrhages and is the leading cause of vascular dementia. The HYPERINTENSE biobank contains biomaterial and clinical data and will focus on research into the relationship between high blood pressure and SVD.
